Don Hardegree
Utilities Risk Management (Retired)
Don Hardegree has been a resident of Montgomery for more than 40 years. He and his wife, Polly, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary back in November. The Hardegrees have one son and two grandchildren.
As an active part of the community, Hardegree has served on a few boards, including the Montgomery YMCA and Camp Smile-A-Mile. Camp Smile-A-Mile helps families with children with cancer as they navigate their journey.
He is now retired after working as trainer and supervisor in the risk management division of a major underground utility locating company. In 2016 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had surgery to remove the cancer. Since surgery he has been cancer-free for more than three years.
One of his best friends’ wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. “I think research is the key to curing this awful disease,” Hardegree said. “Research takes money. I want to help raise as much money as possible to help find a cure.”
